Riverday Poster + Flyer 2019
Has it really been 2 Years?
2017 was a fantastic year - the weather was great, we had an excellent turnout and to top it all we raised a huge amount of money for charity!
This year we face a bit of a challenge that we must overcome. Many of you will be aware that the river Windrush has become increasingly polluted and we have had to take the difficult decision not to run a Raft Race this year.
Rather than cancel the whole event, we are going to rise above and go ahead with the day regardless...
NO RAFT RACE DOES'NT MEAN NO RIVERDAY
We are going to make it bigger and better than ever before, whilst raising awareness of the plight of our river and ensuring that we can look forward to a healthy Raft Race in 2021
So PLEASE spread the word and SUPPORT the event like never before.
We have over 1200 of these little yellow fellas ready to race for you this year…
Apparently exclusive to Oxfordshire, this highly skilled ‘sport’ makes for a proper family challenge…
No explanation necessary…there is some treasure, you just need to hunt for it…
This Year's Festivities
Testing now completed, we will have a number of these ‘challenging’ spherical craft to navigate in an ‘It’s a Knock Out’ style…
IT'S A Knock-Out
This should provide colourful entertainment for the whole family! Get a team together – don some Fancy Dress and see if you all have what it takes to compete in It’s Knockout…
We are pushing the boat out this year – More Music, more Genres and starting early afternoon until late…
MORE Food & Drink
Again – boat being pushed out. Licensed Bar [taking contactless payments too!] – BBQ & Street Food shack…
We will provide the Welly – you Wang it as far as you can. Simples….
A word on Charity
Swinbrook & Asthall Riverday is a family focused bi-annual community and charity event first launched in 2007.
Much earlier than that, the Raft Race took place on the Windrush purely for the fun of it.
With your help, we have raised over £25,000 for charities and local causes over the years, and we hope that you will continue to support the event making RiverDay 2019 a huge success.
A BIG THANK YOU
HELEN & DOUGLAS HOUSE
The bulk of our proceeds are donated to this exceptional charity who provide hospice care for babies and children in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties. Please visit their website to discover more about the valuable work they do every single day…
ASTHALL LEIGH MEMORIAL HALL
Every year, ALMH help hugely with the supply of tables, chairs, tea-urns and the like, along with countless volunteers that help to make RiverDay what it is. In return, all excess bar stock is donated to them for resale. Nothing is wasted.

Where it all happens...
RiverDay is held adjacent to the Windrush next to the bridge by the Sawn Inn , Swinbrook.
Signage will guide you on the day.
There is plenty of parking and no doubt volunteers to help you on your way.
N.B. Wheelchair Access: The event is held on a field next to the riverbank and is uneven in places but we have done everything we can to ensure that there are no barriers or steps to hinder access. Please let one of our volunteers know on arrival and they will ensure they find you the most convenient parking space and or access to the site.
OUR LOVELY SPONSORS
We are so blessed that over the years support for RiverDay has been outstanding. Enormous thanks to all the local businesses, organisations and individuals who make the event what it is. We couldn’t possibly name everyone who have helped and sponsored RiverDay in some way, but these are a few that have a logo…..
We're all ears...
We would love to hear from you with comments, recommendations, suggestions or heaven forbid…complaints.
We are always short of volunteers with or without any particular skill. So if you feel you would like to lend a hand please reach out to us.
