A donation to Helen & Douglas House
Both
Carole Ward (pictured) and me - Andy Trevaskis visited Helen &
Douglas House in Oxford to present them with our 2011 donation. We
were made very welcome and given a guided tour of both Helen House
and Douglas House by Helen Cordiner. Having presented them with the
cheque, we left humbled but hugely encouraged by the simply
outstanding facility that they have built over the years.
Just prior to the Raft Race, Dave emerged from under the bridge at Swinbrook. The heavy rain on the Friday evening had helped swell the waters slightly, allowing Dave to 'swim' a good proportion of his journey from Barrington. When asked to comment on his endeavours, Dave said " I am absolutely knackered, but really glad I finished...". He was genuinely surprised also in the interest for the task and said that a number of friends have asked to join him on his next swim... We are all humbled by Dave's efforts and I know that his chosen cause will be delighted with the money he has raised.

Local
hero
Dave Tinton (that's him on the left by the way) is playing his
part for RiverDay by swimming from The Fox at Barrington to the Swan
Inn at Swinbrook. He plans to start around 6 a.m. arriving, as he
puts it "..who knows!".
Above: Dave pictured with another local hero Tony Hadley We wish him all the best of luck with his fearsome endeavour and pray for some heavy rain between now and the 25th or it will be more of a sponsored walk!!
